These sweet 3.5-4” footed dishes began as a way to use up bits of leftover blue-stained clay years ago. Now we make our own blue marbelized clay body for throwing and handbuilding, a seasonal offering.
These dishes begin with a slab of clay draped over real scallop shells to take on their impression. They are then hand-shaped over plaster molds, given a tiny foot ring, and dried then fired and finished with food-safe satin glaze.
Each piece is completely unique, just like the shells they are cast from. Please note that the individual marbled shells will not match the sample photos as each piece is impossible to replicate. Thanks for embracing this!
